Established in 1800, The Charlestown Navy Yard closed in 1974 after nearly 175 years of serving the U.S. Navy fleet. Thirsty acres became part of Boston National Historical Park. The National Park Service now maintains and important part of the ship yard.

The men and women of its workforce built more than 200 warships and maintained and repaired thousands. From its inception the yard was in the forefront of shipyard technology, from building the Navy’s only ropewalk to making itself a center of missile and electronics conversions. In its 174-year history The Charlestown Navy Yard played an important role in the birth, growth and continued effectiveness of the U.S. Navy.

Today the Revitalization Plan at The Charlestown Navy Yard brings mixed development of local business to reconnect the community with this historic place. Clarke Living is just one of these local businesses that has been serving the greater Boston community for more than 50 years. They are the largest distributor of high quality kitchen appliances on the East coast. They offer sales and services of the products that they represent. They have always given back to the Boston community by opening their showroom to many broadcasted cooking and culinary shows for public view.

Their new showroom. which is set up with all the state of the art kitchen appliances and constructed to fit into the post- modern industrialist design genre of architecture and design, consists of kitchen design sets that demonstrate the consumer, whether that be a private home owner, or an interior design professional the latest design concepts along with the latest technologies.
